Travel Options to the Costa Blanca

The Costa Blanca in southern Spain has wonderful beaches which attract millions of tourists annually. But there is more to the area than just its beaches. Denia and Javea are two towns in the north which lie at the bottom of a mountain and are well worth a visit. The south of the area has the palm tree capital of the world, Elche as well as the beautiful towns of Torrevieja, Guadelest and Guardamar.

Holiday life here revolves around sunshine, sand and sea. You will enjoy good food and a few late nights as well. Why not spend a couple of days exploring the beautiful mountains and relax. Once you have experienced the diversity of this region, you will want to return and explore its hidden corners, coves, beaches, romantic restaurants and narrow streets. In spite of the recent boom in tourism, the Spanish way of life continues unspoilt to this day.

It is not surprising that people choose to visit the Costa Blanca in winter as well as summer. South of Alicante, the weather is more favourable than in the north and the area enjoys over 300 days of sunshine per year. The south of the Costa Blanca has less rainfall and winter weather is temperate. Outdoor activities can therefore be enjoyed at any time.

The Costa Blanca holds many attractions for the tourist such as the Terra Mitica entertainment park at Benidorm. Villajovosa, south of Benidorm, is famous for its chocolate and for its old town. The beaches here as well as the pretty tiny villages offer a unique attraction and these are what draw tourists to the area. The area is very popular with golfers as there are major golf courses on the Costa Blanca. Golfing holidays can be taken throughout the year and are easy to find on the internet or through your local travel agent.

Flights to the area are to the three airports of Alicante, Valencia and Murcia-San Javier. Almost all tour operators in the UK will be able to arrange flights for you from local UK airports which include Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Luton, Stanstead, Southampton and Bournemouth and more. Flybe is a low-cost airline which flies from Exeter, Norwich, Birmingham and Southampton for example. Rynair fly from Stanstead, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Birmingham to Malaga flights are also popular. It is a good idea to find out what refreshments, if any, the airline offers. You may have to take a drink and some light refreshments along with you. However, remember that flights are very short from the UK to this lovely part of Spain and you will not be in the air long. Travel light and remember you will not probably need to take warm clothing.
